Episode 13 Porta-Bench Plans

benheck

Hello everyone! Attached are the design files for the Episode 13 project - a new design of the Portable Work bench.

Sheets 1 and 2 are the parts you need to cut, and Main Layout shows all the parts put together in multiple views.

If you have any questions, discuss below! Also you can enter for a chance to win the original portable work bench seen in prior episodes and Maker Faire New York.

Enjoy the episode we shot during the Midwest blizzard!

-Ben

hey ben why dont you use autodesk inventor or solid works or some other similar program with your designs? i would imagine that it would make the design process a lot easier and move faster since you can export the designs directly to a cnc mill

Thanks for publishing the plans. I've been very interested in having my own portable station ever since I saw your original on the show. I find myself fixing a lot of random electronics as a hobby, and this would be perfect for keeping my messes controlled in my office.

As someone without access to a CNC router ... are there any online services anyone can recommend for having these parts routed and shipped? I didn't notice that service being offered here on element14, unless I overlooked it.

    Thanks, love the show.

    Dear Ben,

I would like to know how long did it take to route the porta bench. I saw that you charge $60 per hour and since i don't have a cnc machine I was wondering if you could route the parts for me and them ship them to me.

    Thanks your show rocks.

I am not sure how much Ben would charge per hour but the shipping would kill you.  I am trying local custom cabinet making places to see if they use a machine and if they could cut these out for me.

What software are you using?  I just downloaded DWG TrueView as a free veiwer so I could get the dimensions.  There is a measure tool.  Would be nice if you didn't have to go through and measure everything but it's easier than making everything up myself.

Thanks Ben!  Don't have a CNC (big surprise)  but I think I'll try to put the table saw to use and cut em up myself.  Router and jigsaw might help out though too...
