Looking for an intelligent USB to UART converter which provides :

 

* Fully configurable VID and PID

* Eight (8) general purpose I/O pins

* Support baud rates: 300 - 1000k (baud) with HW flow control

* USB activity LED outputs (TxLED and RxLED)

*  Royalty-free drivers for Virtual Com Port (VCP) - Windows XP-(SP2 & later)/Vista/7

* CDC class & HID class (for configuration)

 

Look for MCP2200 and its evaluation board.
