I have always been interested in taking a closer look at low power technology - especially when it involves embedded devices, microcontrollers - I design (as a hobby) a variety of handheld products, toys game controllers, where optimizing power consumption and extending the battery life continues to be a challenge. The XLP seems to promise a great solution to this end.

Coming to this element14 site, I also got a chance to evaluate the EAGLE CAD software. I have created a design template for the PIC16LF727-I/PT. The template consists of just the MCU with all its pins mapped out to two header connectors. It is uploaded here for reference. It is in the EAGLE format – and can be viewed using EAGLE (you can download it here).
